The Way Challenge
While walking by the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon (who is called Peter) and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishermen. And he said to them, “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Immediately they left their nets and followed him.

Matthew 4:18-20
Jesus called us to be followers of him, meaning we need to “be” like Jesus. Being saved happens the moment we express faith in Jesus, but being like him doesn’t automatically happen after that moment. Instead, it requires intentional effort in forming spiritual habits to do what Jesus did. Habits can’t be created overnight, as much as we wish they could be! So, if our goal is to become more like Jesus, we have to slowly establish practical habits that we can build on.
In 2024, Liberty Hill’s pastoral team developed an 8-week Sunday message series based on Jesus’s habits. That series coupled the scriptural teachings of Jesus’s habit with practical steps that we can do each day. That’s what this challenge is about. With each week’s teaching, we challenge ourselves with new, simple habits to build an effective foundation for becoming more like him.
You can do these challenges without their corresponding teachings, but you’ll probably miss some key scriptural insights. So, if you want grow in developing habits like Jesus, we encourage you to take these challenges one week at a time. The original message teaching is included at the beginning of each one. Take 30-40 minutes to watch or listen to it, then tackle the challenge portion for the remainder of the week.
