Discouragement is a guaranteed experience in life. We will all face times when we feel let down or defeated, or feel some degree of hopelessness. We have our expectations, our plans and dreams; but the circumstances of life don’t always cooperate with us, and discouragement takes the place of enthusiasm. Perhaps one of the most painful types of discouragement, though, is the type that comes from our own failure. When we fail to live up to our own expectations, or have no one but ourselves to blame for our troubles, it can be a humbling and troubling experience. We may not like to admit it, but sometimes we can be our own worst enemy.
But here’s an important truth to remember when we let ourselves down: failure isn’t final unless we give up. For the Christian, this is a fundamental part of our faith. We believe that Jesus Christ not only offers forgiveness for our sins and failures, but also the hope, encouragement, and power to grow and mature past them.
This Sunday, I’ll be talking about how God leads us to get of our own way, and to keep going when we stumble. Join us at 10:30 AM as we continue to care for our heart in the series, “Passion Killers.”
