Proverbs 27:17 gives us a well-known truth: “Iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.”
The essential truth is that good relationships make us better. Good friends bring out the best in us, and we in them. We all know that good friends bring us comfort, joy, and happiness with their companionship, but they also bring much more. They challenge us, they teach us, they inspire us, and at times, they correct us. Life is richer, fuller, and better with good friends.
But we can’t get the most out of friendships unless we are willing to give the most. Enjoying a great friendship means that we are more willing to be a friend than to have a friend.
This Sunday at Liberty Hill we’ll be concluding our “Lifelines” series as I talk about what we must be willing to do for our friends. I’m challenged and inspired by what I’ve seen from Scripture in getting ready for this message, and I hope you will be, too! Join us at 10:30 AM for “Make a Way!”
