We live in a world of locks. We sleep behind locked doors, lock our car doors as we walk away from the parking space, lock the screens of our electronic devices, and, well…you get the picture. We live in a world where passwords, PIN codes, and mechanical locks protect what is valuable and important to us. We keep our defenses up because we recognize the existence of very real threats.

But we don’t always secure what is most valuable. There are no locks to protect our souls, no passwords to protect our hearts and emotions, and no codes that keep our thoughts from being seized by deception. We seldom consider how important it is to defend our real selves; the invisible soul of who we are that absorbs all that the world throws at us. Just as we try to protect and secure our material possessions, we should exert all the more effort to protect what is of even greater worth. Proverbs 4:23 teaches us, “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.” Your priceless soul deserves protection.

This Sunday at Liberty Hill I’ll be talking about protecting our faith against three specific threats. If we let our guard down in these three areas, our souls – and consequently all other areas of our lives – will pay the price for it. Join us at 10:30 AM as we focus on “Defending Your Faith.”
