We all know that the world can be a very dark place at times. The choices of individuals, cultures, or governments can easily create an awareness that no matter how noble man can be, he can also display incredible corruption. It is the despair of the darkness that makes Christmas so necessary. And I’m not referring just to the holiday experience of time with family and friends, good cheer, generosity, etc.. No, I’m referring to the first Christmas, when God interrupted the reign of darkness to introduce the world to the King of Light. Christmas is the birth of the Prince of Peace, reminding us that what we see in this world is not all there is. The reign of darkness is temporary, and God offers us entrance into His kingdom through Jesus. Christmas is God offering us salvation not just from sin, but from the tyranny of darkness in all of its forms. Christmas is God giving humanity an alternative! This Sunday, Pastor Phil Warren will talk about how Christmas is “The Birth of Grace” as God shines His light into our world by actually walking among us. Come refresh your spirits and get a fresh glimpse of hope this Sunday!
If you’re looking for an additional way to boost your faith and enjoy some holiday inspiration, you may also join us on Christmas Eve at 5:00 PM. We will be celebrating communion, enjoying music from the Copeland family, and a message from Pastor Preston Owens. It will be a great way to celebrate the hope that God has given us in Christ, and remind us that Christmas is great because of Christ. Period!
May you all have a very merry, grace-filled Christmas!
Grace Received, Joe Payne
