We’re getting ready for Sunday once again, and Cheryl Parrish – our Children’s Ministry Director – would like to remind everyone about what will make this Sunday extra special. We will take time in the service to offer special prayer for all of our students returning to school, and we encourage all students to bring their backpacks with them to the 10:30 AM worship service. In this service, we will also mark our Sunday School class promotions for students moving up into new Sunday School classes. Students will have opportunities to meet their new teachers and discover their new classrooms as well. We’re also excited about the introduction of an all-new Kid’s Church, which Cheryl will be telling us more about in this Sunday’s service! Also in the service, Pastor Phil will be bringing us part two of his message on “The Transformed Life,” and will talk about the challenges of following Christ in a world that resists His light.

We will be dismissing our evening services, and will be having our annual back-to-school family picnic. The cookout will be held at Dexter’s East Park beginning at 4:30 PM, and we will have a pool party following the picnic at 5:30 PM. Everyone is welcome, and we look forward to a time of enjoying good fun with family and friends!

Grace Received,                                                                                           Joe Payne

Just a reminder, this Sunday, August 12th we will have a BLESSING OF THE BACKPACKS — a special time of prayer for all of our students returning to school (Preschool through College).  If you are a student, please bring your backpack to the 10:30 AM Worship Service with you.  It is also Promotion Sunday.  We will be recognizing all the students who are promoting to the next class as well as recognizing our teachers.  A small reception for promoting students (6th grade & under) and their new class teachers will be held following the time of recognition at the Liberty Cafe.

Also — there will be no services in The Hub this Sunday morning.  Please join us in the main Sanctuary for worship at 10:30 AM.
